Aalekh Foundation honours 25 extraordinary women shaping India’s cultural, creative, and social scene.
The Aalekh Foundation announced the third edition of the Aalekh Women Achievers Awards, recognising 25 xceptional women whose work exemplifies leadership, innovation, and social impact. The award ceremony was held in New Delhi, on July 19, 2025.
Honorees included leading figures such as Odissi and Chhau dancer Sharon Lowen, actress Rituparna Sengupta, social reformer Anjali Gopalan and designer Anshu Arora—among the youngest Indians to retail at Selfridges, London.
From grassroots changemakers to national influencers, these awardees have redefined excellence in their respective domains. Notable achievers include Neetu Bist, a digital media icon with millions of followers and Karuna Badwal, the strategic mind behind Red Chillies Entertainment and Shah Rukh Khan’s brand.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards went to Sharon Lowen, Arpana Caur, a leading contemporary artist, Dr Raj Dulhari Mehra, Anjali Gopalan and Uma Nair, an eminent art curator and writer. Others being honoured included Chandrima Chatterjee, a pivotal voice in textile policy, Shonali Bose, acclaimed filmmaker, Anjum Chopra, cricket icon and Bambi Kevichusa, a fashion designer from Nagaland whose global work preserves indigenous design.
Instituted by the Aalekh Foundation, a platform championing heritage, sustainability and women’s empowerment, the awards celebrate women creating inclusive narratives for a better future. Dr Rennie Joyy, founder of the foundation, stated, “These awards honour courage, compassion and contribution— stories that shape a more equitable tomorrow.” With jury members from varied cultural and civic sectors, the selection reflects integrity and merit. Previous recipients of the award include Shovana Narayan, Anju Bobby George and Laila Tyabji amongst other renowned personalities.
