Globals Art Camp And Show At BHU

The exhibition was inaugurated at Women’s College, marking the Indian New Year.

On the occasion of the Indian New Year, an International Art Camp and Exhibition was organized at the Department of Painting, Women’s College, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. The event was jointly hosted by the Department of Painting, Women’s College (BHU),

Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi, Sanskar Bharati (University Unit) and the Institute of Fine Arts, Varanasi. The inauguration ceremony took place on April 2, 2026. Padma Shri Prof Mangala Kapoor was the chief guest. The event was also graced by the presence of Women’s College Principal Rita Singh and Sanskar Bharati’s Provincial Organization Minister, Deepak Sharma.

Among the prominent Indian artists present were Prof Jasminder Kaur (Head, Department of Painting), Prof Manish Arora (Head, Applied Arts), Prof Shanti Swaroop Sinha, Prof Satyendra Vyas from Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), Dr Mahesh Singh from Jaipur, Suresh Nair, Lalit Mohan Soni, Ashish Guma, and Dr Sunil Patel. The event was co-ordinated by Prof Saroj Rani, in association with Sunil Kumar Singh Kushwaha, Jayshree Mandi, Dausa Jaiswal, and Dr Avadhesh Singh.

The camp also attracted international participation, including artists such as Kishore Nakarmi and Mangal Prajapati from Nepal, Himesh Babulal from Mauritius, Sutri Udyogini from Sri Lanka, Seonja Shin from South Korea and Sudipta Swarnakar from Bangladesh.

Artists from various parts of India, including Delhi, Jaipur, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Azamgarh, and Varanasi, also participated. Notable attendees included Anurekha from Odisha, Dr Sachiv Gautam from Uttarakhand, Dr Yugesh Ravi from Azamgarh, and several artists from Varanasi such as Dr Om Prakash Gupta, Dr Talini, Dr Shweta Maurya, Dr Geetika, Notu Verma and Baldeo Verma.

In total, 54 artists from different regions of India participated in the three-day art camp.

The artworks created during this workshop were displayed in an exhibition at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith.
