Celebrating The Paintings In Indian Constitution

During the art seminar, the historical and culture significance of the paintings in the manuscript was brought to fore.

On the occasion of Republic Day, senior RSS pracharak and the Indian constitution, expert, Laxmi Narayan Bhalaji, delivered a thought provoking lecture titled, the painter showed the soul of the Indian constitution. This was under the monthly seminar programme that was held at the central office of Sanskar Bharati, Kala Sankul.

During the session, Bhalaji emphasized the historical and cultural significance of the paintings by Nandlal Bose in the original manuscript of the Indian constitution. He explained that these artworks are more than mere decoration; they vividly reflect the core spirit of Indian civilization, culture and the constitution. Through these paintings, the traditions of India, its glorious history and the values of the freedom struggle are eloquently expressed. Bhalaji elaborated on the role of these paintings in each chapter of the Constitution. He highlighted how eminent artists like Nandlal Bose gave a distinct visual identity to each page, showcasing India’s diversity and rich cultural heritage. The paintings depict key events from the Mahabharata, Ramayana, Buddhism and India’s freedom struggle, making the Indian constitution a living, breathing document.

The seminar saw a large gathering of art practitioners and intellectuals, who found the session inspiring and an important platform to deepen their understanding of Indian art traditions. At the conclusion of the seminar, the office bearers of Sanskar Bharti expressed their gratitude to Laxmi Narayan Bhalaji and reaffirmed their commitment to organizing similar events in the future.

It is worth noting that Sanskar Bharti, which has emerged as a cultural hub for the arts, holds monthly seminars on a variety of subjects like music, dance, folk traditions, literature, and painting at the Kala Sankul on the last Sunday of every month. These seminars aim to address various aspects of the art world, including discussions on art trends, challenges and the integration of Indian artistic vision. For several years, Sanskar Bharti has been organizing these seminars at its Kala Sankul office on Deendayal Upadhyay Marg. Past events have seen the participation of renowned artists and scholars, including Padma Shri Ram Sutar, Padma Shri Ranjana Gauhar, Bharatnatyam dancer Rama Vaidyanathan, Sangeet Natya Academy Awardee Pandit Chetan Joshi, Jai Prabha Menon, Shri Abhay Supori, Meenu Thakur, Prof Chandan Choubey and many others.
