Held at Purana Qila in Delhi, the event symbolized the government’s dedication to fostering art.
The National Gallery of Modern Art in collaboration with Lalit Kala Akademi under the aegis of Ministry of Culture conducted the Viksit Bharat Ambassador Artist workshop held at the Purana Quila in Delhi on March 10, 2024. Minister of Commerce, Industry, Consumer affairs and Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal was the chief guest at the event. Minister of External Affairs, Dr S. Jaishankar was also present.
Applauding the cutting-edge and groundbreaking artworks done by the artists to promote the idea of a developed India by the year 2047. Piyush Goyal spoke highly of the artists for their unparalleled and exquisite contribution in furthering the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047. He added that all of them will witness revolutionary growth and see the transformation journey of India to a developed nation.
The other dignitaries present were Uma Nanduri, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Dr Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General, National Gallery of Modern Art. The presence of top officials symbolised the government’s commitment to promoting art and culture as the pivotal essence of India’s development.
The workshop started at 9:00 am and lasted until 5:00 pm, bringing together creative minds of all ages, from children to seniors. All the participants expressed their visions for a developed India through appealing and vibrant paintings. Art enthusiasts showcased their visualizations of a pollution-free environment, India as a global leader, a digitally connected country and more. Over 15,000 artists participated in person, engaging over 50,000 more virtually from across the country. Throughout the day, attendees were engaged in productive discussions, hands-on activities and collaborative opportunities. The workshop was indeed a testament to the energetic, positive and forward-looking spirit of India. With rich and unique perspectives, artists and students painted their imaginations where each stroke and every colour on canvas reflected a vision of a nation that opened its arms to innovation, diversity and prosperity. From an energetic city to serene countryside landscapes, their work showcased a peaceful amalgam of tradition and modernity.
They also envisioned a future where education, technology and sustainable development carve the path for a promising advancement of the nation. The presence of renowned artists and scholars whose expertise and insights added immense value to the event. Important figures from the art world shared their wisdom and inspired the participants with their experiences.
Dr Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of NGMA said, “This event signifies a milestone in our journey towards a culturally vibrant and progressive India. The robust turnout and engagement underscore the nation’s commitment to fostering artistic talent and innovation. Artist workshops serve as platforms for nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and showcasing cultural richness. He added, “Artist workshops play a multifaceted role in society, contributing to various aspects of cultural and socio-economic development. The workshops provide aspiring artists with opportunities for skill development, learning new techniques, and refining their craft. They offer environments conducive to creativity and experimentation. Artists are encouraged to explore new ideas, push boundaries and think innovatively. Such environments foster a culture of creative risk-taking, leading to the emergence of fresh perspectives and artistic breakthroughs.”
