Renowned artist Srimahadeb presents his fifth solo exhibition, showcasing a captivating collection that explores contemporary human issues through the lens of modern expressionism.
Srimahadeb, an artist hailing from the red soil district of Bankura, is set to unveil his fifth solo exhibition, showcasing a profound collection of works that span his artistic journey. With roots deeply embedded in his childhood, Srimahadeb’s early exposure to art came from his parents, who were skilled in creating alpona (traditional floor art) and crafting dolls and toys from clay and mud. This environment of creativity nurtured his passion, and from a young age, he joined his parents in these artistic endeavours, sparking the desire to become an artist himself.
The artist’s works are deeply influenced by the local festivals, the mysticism of folk traditions, and the vibrant cultural tapestry of his hometown. Srimahadeb’s artistic development continued at the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata, where he was significantly influenced by the great modern artists and the magic-realism movement. His exposure to the evolution of art from prehistoric times to the modern era has left a lasting impact on his creative vision.
